Unable to watch Thalaivaa, fan commits suicide

A 20-year-old fan of a Tamil actor Vijay allegedly committed suicide here for allegedly being dejected over not being able to watch the latter's new film "Thalaivaa", whose release has been stalled in the south Indian state in the backdrop of some threats, police said on Sunday. According to local police, Vishnu, a construction worker, was upset over the non-release of the film on Saturday.

He had even gone to Velanthavalam in neighbouring Kerala, about 30 km from here, to watch the movie, they said quoting his friends and family sources. However, he did not get a ticket and returned home late last night dejected, police said.

He ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling of a room in his house in the wee hours, they added. The release of the much awaited movie "Thalaivaa" was stalled in the state after some theatre owners received threats from an outfit opposed to the producers.
