Kejriwal Govt's Big Sop For Power Bill Defaulters

Delhiites, who didn't pay power bills from October 2012 to April 2013, will need to pay only half their power bills with the Aam Aadmi Party government declaring a Rs.6-crore sop to meet the half the bills.
Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia, who made the announcement of 50 per cent subsidy for "inflated" power bills, said these power consumers need not pay a penalty. But those who have paid the bills will not get any benefit.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, in a petition, had asked citizens not to pay their power and water bills since they were over-priced. Though some 10 lakh people signed the petition, some 25,000 people defaulted on their bills. Kejriwal halved power tariff within days of becoming Delhi CM. Reports said nearly 24,000 power users would benefit from the sop.
