ApolloHospitals has announced its Rs 1,800-crore expansion plan to be implemented during 2009-10 and 2010-11. As a part of this expansion ApolloHospitals would be inaugurating 11 new hospitals in the next fiscal and 20 more in 2011-12. This would come with an inclusion of 200 more beds to an already existing 8,800 beds.
Expansion initiative is not only limited to infrastructure but also includes up-gradation to newer technologies in all areas. The current number of Apollohospitals in India is 50 which include 9 cancer hospitals.
The expansion plan of Apollo Hospitals has been ongoing since 2009. The group has already nine hospitals in the year 2009-10.Apollo hospital plans to add 900 beds in Bhubaneswar, Lavasa, Kolkata and Secunderabad.
This step is to fulfill the scarcity of one lakh beds in India. “We will have 52 hospitals by April, 2010. Besides, we are also considering about 20 locations for further expansion.” said Pratap C Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Group.
The Apollo hospitals expansion stint also includes upgradation in terms of technology. The hospital is taken a giant leap in cancer related technologies. At present the group has 9 cancerhospitals. Four these nine cancer hospitals are deemed to be upgraded. These four hospitals would be located at Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Delhi.30% discount on screening cost of all forms of cancer screening for the next 10 years. ’’We are giving 20 per cent discount on the screening cost but now we will increase it to 30 per cent for the next decade for both men and women,'' Dr Reddy added
Apollo Hospitals expansion plan would see two super specialty hospitals opening in the next five days in Hyderabad and Kolkata at a cost of Rs. 360 crore.
