Tamil Nadu policeman begged for help, ministers didn't care

A case of shocking indifference came to light on January 7, when a sub-inspector of police in Tirunelveli district of southern Tamil Nadu, bled to death after gangsters cut off his legs.

Fourty-four-year-old R Vetrivel's cry for help went in vain even after Tamil Nadu Health Minister MRK Paneerselvam and Youth and Sports Development Minister T P M Mohideen Khan, travelling in a convoy, saw him lying in a pool of blood.

The convoy did stop, but neither of the ministers step out of their cars.
