India witnesses 3 train accident in one day

Guard's wife, daughter die in accident

ALLAHABAD: Tragedy struck the house of guard of the ill-fated Magadh Express, who lost his wife and
daughter in the train accident which took place on Saturday morning. He was returning from Delhi after shopping for his daughter's marriage.

Unfortunately, the daughter lost her life with her mother as they were travelling in the Prayagraj Express which they boarded on account of the fact that the two would reach Allahabad before the Magadh Express in which her father was travelling.

The scene outside PC Srivastava's house in Loco Colony was heart-breaking with relatives and friends trying to console him as he was trying to come to terms that he has lost his wife and daughter in the accident.

The bodies are being brought to the city on a special coach of the relief train arranged by NCR authorities. Srivastava's neighbour AK Bharadwaj said that the family members were preparing for festivities for the daughter's marriage but destiny has played a cruel game.

At least ten people have been killed and more than 60 others have been injured in three separate train accidents in northern India.

The accidents took place in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The first two incidents involved separate train collisions, while the third took place a few hours later when a train slammed into a tractor.

The collisions have been blamed on heavy fog in the area.

Railway officials say the impacts in the collisions were minimized because the trains were traveling at low speed.

An estimated 2,000 passengers were aboard the trains. The string of accidents have disrupted train services across India.
