Twin blasts in Islamabad univ, many feared dead

2 blasts rock Islamabad university

2 blasts were reported in Islamad's Islamic University on Tuesday (October 20). One of the explosions took place in the university's Shariya block, while another took place in the girls cafeteria. According to Pakistani media reports, 15 people are said to have been killed in the blast. Eyewitnesses said 10 others were injured in the inicdent. Three of the students injured in the attack are said to be in a critical condition.

One of the blasts took place in the Univerity's womens' cafeteria. According to sources, a suicide bomber claiming to have a delivery to be made at the university entered the cafeteria and blew himself up once he reached the counter.

The Pakistan government had earlier issued warning about suspected terror attacks on the coun try's education system and had also called for all institutions to be shut down for at least a week. 3,000 to 4,000 students were in the campus when the blast took place.
