'Paramahamsa Nithyananda Swamiji is back in the Bidadi Ashram

Tainted swami's self-purification

An announcement on the Dhyanapeetam's website read 'Paramahamsa Nithyananda Swamiji is back in the Bidadi Ashram (Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam).'

After spending 50 days in police and judicial custody, self-styled swami Nithyananda was released from prison in Ramanagaram.

Scandal-hit Nithyananda, who has been accused of rape, criminal intimidation and cheating, found himself in the soup soon after several television channels showed sleazy videos of him in a compromising position with a Tamil film actor at his ashram at Bidadi.

Eventually, the Karnataka High Court on Friday granted bail to Nithyananda on condition that he furnish a Rs 100,000 bond, give no public discourses, surrender his passport and report to the police once in a fortnight.

Hundreds of spectators gathered to witness the self-proclaimed godman's release from jail, and he was escorted to a car, surrounded by lawyers and police officials.

Swami Bhakthananda, a senior swami in Dhyanapeetam, said Nithyananda was going to perform panchatapas, an intense type of meditation from Sunday. A special puja and meditation has also been organised by his disciples.

On Sunday, Nithyananda performed a self-purification rite by lighting fires all around him. The ritual has been termed the 'spiritual soul cleansing of negativities.'

However, only time will tell whether fortune will turn for this tainted swami with just a set of special pujas.
