Taj ballroom reopens after 26/11 attacks

The iconic Taj Mahal Hotel's famous ballroom, which was damaged during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, is reopening on Wednesday.

India's first air-conditioned restaurant-cum-ballroom - a part of the hotel's heritage wing - has undergone extensive renovation.

A portion of the ballroom was gutted in the terror attacks of November 2008 when terrorists entered the hotel, killing diners and staff and taking many hostage.

All traces of the 26/11 attacks have now been removed. The interiors of the ballroom have been restored to its original form.

Design consultants from around the world were hired for the restoration along with acoustic experts and structural restorers.

Bookings have already started and the ballroom is looking forward to the return of its loyal patrons.
